THE ART OF WINE & FOOD
Empress of Australia
This A4-size 14-page booklet was published in June 1927 to celebrate the first voyage of Empress of Australia Southampton – Cherbourg – Quebec after its refit by Canadian Pacific Line who acquired the vessel in 1921. In 1920 it had served the UK as a troopship and in 1923 had participated in rescue work in Yokohama after the earthquake.  It was a troopship again in 1939 and was scrapped in 1951. It features good black and white interior photographs of the French Regency-style dining room, the Empire-style lounge and Louis XVI-style drawing room.

The illustrations are by Alfred Crocker LEIGHTON [1901 - 1965] the British born Canadian painter well known for his Canadian Pacific travel posters.

It is in good used condition.
